Independent site. ArtCraft Review is an unofficial, independent guide. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by ArtCraft, Storyteller.ai, Brandon Thomas, Adobe or Microsoft. We host no files: every download link points to the official site getartcraft.com or the official github.com/storytold organization.
Yes. The Crafting Apps are published at github.com/storytold and dual-licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0 (CineD; GitHub detects Apache-2.0). The original ArtCraft Studio repo, storytold/artcraft, is also Apache-2.0 on GitHub.
What dual MIT/Apache-2.0 means
- You may use, copy, modify, and redistribute the code, including commercially.
- You choose either license. Apache-2.0 adds an explicit patent grant.
- Keep copyright and license notices; the code comes with no warranty.
What isn't covered
- The ArtCraft name and logos (trademark law, not the code license)
- Paid AI generation in ArtCraft Studio, which runs on cloud models sold by credits
- Some repos in the org, such as artcraft-services, which shows a non-standard license on GitHub
Clean-room and AI-written
The code was written with Claude Opus 5.5 (Ars Technica). FilmCraft's README says it was built from public specifications with no Adobe code. See GitHub repos.
