Yes, mostly. The ArtCraft Crafting Apps (PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, FilmCraft, LightCraft, GridCraft, DeckCraft, CADCraft and the rest) are free and open source, with "No subscription required" according to getartcraft.com. What costs money is the AI generation credits in ArtCraft Studio.
What's free
- All Crafting Apps and the ArtCraft Launcher: free to download and use, with no account required.
- The source code: MIT OR Apache-2.0, free to read, fork and modify.
- Browser (WebAssembly) versions of most apps.
What's paid: ArtCraft Studio credits
The official pricing page (checked November 1, 2026) sells credit plans for AI images and video:
| Plan | Price | Notes |

| Max | Listed on the official page | Higher tier |
| Enterprise | Custom | Bespoke credits, secure models, SLAs |
How does a free project pay for itself?
Brandon Thomas wrote on Hacker News that development of the free apps is funded by selling token-based access to ArtCraft's AI tools, so the apps aren't "going to be some orphaned small-team project" (Ars Technica). The pricing page says your subscription "helps keep ArtCraft free and open for everyone."
Free vs Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe Creative Cloud is subscription software. The ArtCraft apps have no subscription, which was Thomas's stated motivation after being hit by Adobe's cancellation fee. But free isn't the same as equivalent: see ArtCraft vs Adobe for what's missing.
Is there a catch?
- The apps are alpha quality.
- AI features in the studio cost credits.
- Sites selling "ArtCraft Pro keys" or cracks are scams; the apps are already free. See safety.
